I want to set up a dual-boot system with Windows...
I want to set up a dual-boot system with Windows 11 Pro and Ubuntu 24.04 LTS on my Dell Latitude 5540 laptop, which has a 512GB NVMe SSD. I have two main questions:
1. UEFI Partition Scheme: What is the correct GPT partition layout I should use for dual-booting? Specifically, should I use a single shared EFI System Partition (ESP) for both operating systems, or create separate ESP partitions? How large should the ESP be, and what partitions are required for Ubuntu (e.g., root /, swap, /home) alongside the existing Windows 11 partitions (EFI, MSR, Windows, Recovery)?
2. Secure Boot: Does Ubuntu 24.04 LTS support Secure Boot on the Dell Latitude 5540, or do I need to disable Secure Boot in the UEFI/BIOS firmware settings before installing Ubuntu? Will disabling Secure Boot affect the stability or security of Windows 11 Pro on the same machine?
Any step-by-step guidance or recommended partition sizes for a 512GB NVMe SSD would be greatly appreciated.
