Hi Doctor,I am a newlywed and we are not planning for pregnancy. My question is, does pre-cum lead to pregnancy if it is on the outside of the vagina? ( no penetration) and if yes, is there anything can prevent this before happining? This happened on my 11th day of the cycle so I still have 2 weeks till my next period. Is it worth taking the 72 hours pill? I dont want to mess with my cycle for nothing. Thanks!

What is Precum:

If the precum might contain sperms, does that mean it might reach inside the vagina and cause pregnancy?

Noting that there was no actual ejaculation and no semen it was just some drops of the precum outside

I’m just making sure that there’s no risk for pregnancy and I dont need to take the emergency pill.

no its not a myth, but we also have to state the following :
1. not every male precum contain enough healthy sperms to cause pregnancy
2. there are other factors also affect pregnancy occurance rate such as timing with ovulation and general female productive system health
If the precum might contain sperms, does that mean it might reach inside the vagina and cause pregnancy?
according to your description , there was no actual intercourse or vaginal pentration , so there is no chance of pregnancy in this case
- precum doesnt appear as drops , its just light fluid that doesnt usually appear that obvious
