Hi. I have been throwing up blood. I had a stomach pain only while driving then continuously after that. Should I got to the hospital? I have vomited 3 times and all times there was blood

Treatmen of stomach pain and vomitting blood:


Treatment depends on the cause of such symptoms, and usually it can be treated by conservative management as avoiding stress, getting enough water daily, avoiding salts, avoiding smoking and if there is no response, it can be treated by omeprazole 20 mg twice daily and if there is H.pylori infection, you can take augmentin 500 mg three times daily and flagyl 500 mg three times daily, and if there is still blood vomitting you will need upper endoscope to stop ongoing oozing from stomach,


Diagnosis of the cause of stomach pain and vomitting blood:


It depends on the clinical examination by a gastroenterologist and investigations as H.pylori for bacterial infection, upper endoscope to detect gastritis and to rule out hiatus hernia and taking biopsy if possible, ALT,AST for liver diseases, amylase for pancreatic problems, billirubin for gallbladder problems.

Causes of stomach pain and vomitting blood:


It may be due to:

  • Stress and anxiety
  • Gastritis
  • Drinking too much caffiene
  • H. pylori infection
  • Smoking
  • Liver disease

What i advise you?


You can start taking omeprazole and you have to visit a hospital as soon as possible.
