Treatment of fast breathing in children:

It depends on the cause, and till the right diagnosis you can use:

• Normal saline nasal drops as silva nasal drops 10 minutes before breast feeding
• Paracetamol 125 mg suppositories if there is fever

Causes of fast breathing in children:

It may be normal if it is between 30 to 60 breaths per minute in children between 1-12 months old, but if it is above this rate it may be due to:

• Common cold ( viral infection )
• Chest infection
• Nasal congestion...etc

Diagnosis of fast breathing in children:

You have to visit a pediatric doctor for clinical examination and investigations as:

• CBC to detect infection
• Chest x-ray
