Doctor,my 3and half year old chld who had...
Doctor,my 3and half year old chld who had intermittend fever for one more months. He took antibiotics for 10 days because of high crp and wbc count. During that time he had snoring and mouth breathing at night and an ent doctor diagnosed it as enlarged adenoids. he prescribed montelukast sodium for one year. Is it necessary?? And i fear about the side effects..

Dose for this drug?
- For the chronic treatment and prevention of the symptoms of asthma, either as monotherapy or as add-on therapy in patients whose persistent mild-moderate asthma is inadequately controlled with inhaled corticosteroids.
- Children 2—5 years
- 4 mg PO once daily in the evening.
How long you take Montelukast
?- depends on what triggers your allergy/asthma symptoms.
- If your symptoms are seasonal then you will only need to take Singulair during that specific time of year - but if your symptoms are perennial (all year round) then you will benefit from taking it every day
