Managment of acute cough :

• it is important to discriminate between bacterial cough and viral cough .
• in viral cough the child might be well with lower grade fever and runny nose and sneezing .
• this is becuase of viral bronchitis .
• but in case of bacterial infection there is high fever ,chest pain and productive cough woth purulent sputum .
• i think  in your case it is viral bronchitis .
• you have to keep him warm 
• give him plenty of warm fluid and vitamin c juices .
• you can give him antitussive like bronchophane syrup .
• it is self limited condition and it takes time to disappear .
