what is the treatment of entamoeba histolytica
- antibiotics by etronidazol 50 mg for 7 days
- chloroquin
- if there is an abscess caused by its infection and recurrence , it should be opened and drainaged surgically and treated with metronidazole
- avoid the factor the transmittd it , as contaminated water and food that contain the cyst of entamoeba hystolitica
how does transmitt
- swimmin in dirty water
- drinking from contaminated water
- eating contaminated and raw food
what are the symptoms
- abdominal pain
- diarrhea with mucus
- anal stenosis leading to pain when defecat
what are the method of diagnosis
- clinical exam
- stool nalysis
- stoolculture
- abdominal US if abscess is suspicious especially on the liver
- liver function test
the cause of recure is
- the patient didnt finish the antibiotic course
- the dose of antibiotics is not enough
- the bug is resistent to the used antibiotics so culture and sensitivity test should take place
- there is an abscess that should be opened and drainaged
