?indication for coronary bypass surgery
- Left main stenosis >50%
- Stenosis of proximal LAD and proximal circumflex artery >70%
- Three-vessel disease
- Two-vessel disease with significant proximal LAD stenosis and either ejection fraction of less than 0.50 or demonstrable ischemia on noninvasive testing
- One- or two-vessel coronary artery disease without significant proximal LAD stenosis, but with a large area of viable myocardium and high-risk criteria on noninvasive testing
Possible complications of coronary bypass surgery include:
- Bleeding
- Heart rhythm irregularities
- Infections of the chest wound
- Memory loss or troubles with thinking clearly, which often improve within six to 12 months
- Kidney problems
- Stroke
- Heart attack, if a blood clot breaks loose soon after surgery
What should you do ?
- Your risk of developing complications is generally low, but depends on your health before surgery
- After surgery, most people feel better and may remain symptom-free for as long as 10 to 15 years
- Although bypass surgery improves blood supply to the heart, it doesn't cure underlying coronary artery disease
- Your results and long-term outcome will depend in part on taking your medications to prevent blood clots, lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol and help control diabetes as directed
- You should follow healthy lifestyle recommendations
- I recommend to be examined and followed up by cardiologist and cardiosurgeon
