Acute flaccid myelitis (AFM) is a rare but serious neurologic illness of sudden onset, usually in children. It presents with localised limb weakness of unknown cause. A leading candidate for the cause of the condition is enterovirus 68, a member of the enterovirus genus and thus related to poliovirus.

What is the cause for Acute flaccid myelitits?

It's cause isnt crystal clear but it studies shows it is refered to a  new virus(enterovirus). It affects the children as suddenly developed muscle weakness or paralysis in their arms or legs, a condition known as acute flaccid myelitis, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
