Hi, my husband had surgery of petryguim on sunday...

Hi, my husband had surgery of petryguim on sunday and doctor told us that within next day the will be ready but within 2 days my husband didnt feel any improvemnt . He is having feeling harsh inside the eye . So cant open the eye .
Doctor's Assistant: Have you seen a doctor about this yet? What medications are you taking?
I told doctor that hes having difgiculty but he says its normal .. i am afaraid cause no slight improvment .. vigamox,optidux and artelac advanced are the eye drops he gave

Treatment of pterygium ?

  • Use medication like corticosteroid to reduce inflammation and redness
  • Surgical intervention
  •  During surgery, the pterygium is carefully removed and a section of the conjunctiva is taken from under the eyelid and is grafted onto the area where the pterygium was

After surgery?

  • Healing take a period of time
  • Eye drops and eye ointment are usually prescribed after the surgery to prevent infection and assist with healing
  • You should be floolowid up by your health care provider

How long time it takes to heal ? Should there be any changes or not after using medicines or patient has to bear the pain and regret for operation ? Its 2nd openion docoter .. and medicines that i mentiained are enough or there is anything elsae ? Conclusion, i dont see any progress on healing .

Healing time varies. Soreness is very common for the first week and redness may last up to 6 weeks after surgery. In general, smaller pterygiums tend to heal the fastest while larger pterygiums take longer to heal
Continue on the same prescribed medications
If you don't see any progression you should be examined again by ophthalmologist
