so i advise you to avoid the oral antitussive medications , in your case i advise you to follow these tips :

• Avoid contact with people who are sick
• good nutriton 
• avoid smoking or dust exposure
• use the normasal drops
• if there is a bacterial infection , it could be treated by antibiotic like azithromycin syrup
• if there is a fever , you can use paracetamol syrup

the viral cough or nasal congestion relieves within days without any medicaitons
