They are two bean shaped organs that are situated on the sides of the vertebral column ( in the back of the abdominal cavity ) , and below the rib cage , to serve essential function for human's body 

? What are the functions of the kidney 

1. Filter out waste products form your body through the urinary tract 
2. Produce and activate vitamin D , for your bone health
3. Regulate acid-base balance in your body 
4. Regulate blood pressure
5. Regulate water content in your body and different compartments 
6. Produce a hormone called Erythropeotin which is resposible for the production of Red blood cells

1. Clinical assessment 
2. Complete blood count 
3. Kidney function test : Urea , Creatinine , K , Na 
4. Ultrasound of the abdomen
