There are many steps and ways to diagnose DM which are the following

• Fasting glucose level more than 126 at two readings at different days
• Random blood glucose level more than 200 at two readings at two different days
• One random blood glucose level more than 200 with classic symptoms of DM which are increased thirst, Increased urination and eating in addition to weight loss
• HA1C more than 6.5
