What is the treatment of itchy breast or nipple?
- shower with lukewarm water instead of hot water to avoid skin dryness
- moisturize your skin daily
- if there is swelling and redness you may use a topical steroid cream like hydrocortisone
- antibiotics are prescribed in cases of infection
- wash the area with unscented soap and avoid chemicals
- using some oils like coconut oil and cocoa butter is useful
- oral antihistamines may be benefitial in some cases
What are the causes of itchy breast or nipple?
- using a chemical product
- rash or allergy
- wearing tight undergarments
- dry skin
- atopic dermatitis (eczema)
- pregnancy
- menopause
- breastfeeding
- radiation therapy
- wearing a new type of bra material that induced contact dermatitis
