I am having sudden mild jerk at the start of the...
I am having sudden mild jerk at the start of the sleep, It was started six month long but now it increased and even at the awaken stage i am feeling light jerk in any part of the body.
Kindly suggest what could be the reason and to whom i have to consult.

What are the causes of jerking movment?
1. Drug use.
2. The use of neuroleptic medications that are prescribed for psychiatric disorders over a long period.
3. Tumors.
4. Brain injury.
5. Strokes.
6. Degenerative disorders, such as Parkinson’s disease.
7. Seizure disorders.
8. Untreated syphilis.
9. Thyroid diseases.
10. Genetic disorders, including Huntington’s disease and Wilson’s disease.
What diagnostic test to do?
1. Electrolyte studies.
2. Thyroid function tests to rule out thyroid dysfunction.
3. Serum copper or serum ceruloplasmin test to rule out Wilson’s disease.
4. Syphilis serology to rule out neurosyphilis.
5. Connective tissue disease screening tests to rule out systemic lupus erythematosus and other .related diseases
6. Serum calcium test.
7. Red blood cell counts.
