What would be the cure for hyperthyroidism doc? What kind of physician specialist i would go to? Thank you
Have you seen a doctor about this yet? What medications are you taking?
Not yet mam. No medications yet taking. I just want to know if what would be the first step to do?
Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?
All is ok mam with regards to my medical history. I'm just alarmed with the signs that my friend shared me about if there's unseen half moon on the finger nails then you have hyperthyroidism. Is it true?

Treatment of hyperthyroidism
:- it depends on the cause
- if the cause is a single hyperactive nodule then the treatment is surgical resection of the nodule
- if the cause is diffuse enlargement of the thyroid gland then the treatment is either through radioactive iodine injection or through complete surgical resection
- forpatients who cant tolerate radiotherapy or surgery, they can use antithyroid drugs like PTU (propylthiouracil) or methemazole
Diagnosis of hyperthyroidism
:- clinical history and examination
- measure the level of TSH and free T4
- nech ultrasound examination
- using PET scan
Causes of hyperthyroidism
:- congenital disease
- unkown causes
- consuption of large amount of iodine containing supplements
- rarely consumption of thyroxine medication in toxic amounts
