what is Iontophoresis machine?
a shallow tray that contains mineral water and electrodes that produce a weak electric current, this modality was invented in 1940 to treat hyperhydrosis.who will benifit from Iontophoresis machine?
refractory cases of hyperhydrosis that failed to acheive the desired effect of dryness by using medication.how does this modality work?
soaking your hands or feet in the tray and start the electric current for 45 minutes , this process must be repeated weekly in mild cases and up to three times in difficult to treat cases, until the desired effect is acheived, for other areas in the body some pads are invented but less effective than the tray.is it successful in treating hyperhydrosis?
yes, some reports reached success rate of 91% after the use of Iontophoresis machine, but note that this method is temporary and the hyperhydrosis will recur and the treatment must be repeated when needed.what precautions must be taken when using Iontophoresis machine?
1- first use must be under medical supervision, after that you can do the sessions at home.2- if you have seizure or pacemaker you should avoid this technique
3- this technique is contraindicated in pregnancy
4- avoid using current if you have metalic implants.
what is my advice?
