I am now 14 week 3days. Had AFP test last week on 13w 4d. And got 19.is it threatening anyway. Had NT scan in 12 weeks and baby was totally fine and active. Now I am taking calcium and multivitamin only. Stopped duphaston in 12 weeks.
Have you seen a doctor about this yet? What medications are you taking?
No. Got report today. And having appointment on Wednesday.
Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?
Having cyst after pregnancy. And it's about 6c.m. and tests are done if it's life threatening or anything. And reports are all fine.

What is AFP test?
- AFP suggests a birth defect like spina bifida
- AFP is typically part of the triple screen or quad screen test (along with human chorionic gonadotropin or HCG, estriol, and inhibin A)
- Used in the second trimester of pregnancy to determine whether additional testing is necessary.
Normal range of AFP?
- Pregnancy Trimester One: 18 to 119 ng/mL or 18 to 119 µg/liter
- Pregnancy Trimester Two: 96 to 302 ng/mL or 96 to 302 µg/liter
- Pregnancy Trimester Three: 160 to 550 ng/mL or 160 to 550 µg/liter
How can these levels interpret?
- High levels of AFP may suggest the developing baby has a neural tube defect such as spina bifida or anencephaly
- Low levels of AFP and abnormal levels of hCG and estriol may indicate the developing baby has Trisomy 21( Down syndrome), Trisomy 18 (Edwards Syndrome) or another type of chromosome abnormality
