Treatment of prolonged menses

The normal duration of menses is about 3 - 7 days of bleeding of limited quantity. Complaining of heavy menses is common due to many factors and causes. Treatment is by the following

• At first you can take ibuprofen 400 mg three times daily which help to reduce the quantity of blood or menses.
• Seek for medical help to take Hexacapron injection which also reduce menses bleeding
• Stop taking pills you have till seeing your doctor
• Ask for US to find if there are uterine or ovarian causes of heavy menses like fibroids and others.
• Do thyroid function test as hypothyroidism cause heavy menses
