Hello, my husband was recently diagnosed with acute anemia. He went for an iron infusion and is still taking iron tablets. I’m worried he’s having too much iron. How can I tell? Thank you for your advice. Danielle
Have you seen a doctor about this yet? What medications are you taking?
His doctor is on holiday. So we haven’t asked if he should still be taking iron tablets on top of the infusion he had last Thursday.
Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?
He might have an ulcer and a few intestinal issues

- Pay attention to foods that contain iron such as meat, liver, vegetables, citrus
- Use iron tablets at the rate of one pill per day for 3 months
- Blood is transferred if the hemoglobin concentration is less than 7
- Do not respond to iron pills
- Having intestinal problems, led to poor absorption
- Inability to absorb enough iron due to continuous bleeding
- Need to raise the rate of iron stores quickly without the risk of blood transfusion
